03-13-2008 - Western Mindanao Chapter Assembly |
 | PECOJON welcomes the new coordinator and councilors for the Western Mindanao Chapter, following an assembly held at the Astoria Hotel in Zamboanga City last March 7, 2008.
Introduction and Updates from the National Secretariat preceded the discussion on the election process, which involved the presentation of the network structure. The 16 members who were present then shared their opinions and questions regarding the process, and proceeded to nominate and vote.

03-13-2008 - 2nd PJ1 Ex-deal Training in UP |

On February 23 to 24 of this year, twenty-six (26) participants, most of them either taking up their Masters’ degrees in Film or Broadcast Communications, gathered at the University of the Philippines’ College of Mass Communications Auditorium for the Peace and Conflict Journalism Training 1.
With the exclusion of Eva Thoemmes who is working with an NGO based in Pampanga, the rest of the participants were students of Professors Roehl Jamon and Shirley Evidente. This has been the second time that PECOJON conducted an ex-deal training with the university.

| | The Peace and Conflict Journalism Training 2 was held last February 15-18 at the Malasag Eco-Tourism Village in Cugman, Cagayan de Oro, Philippines with twenty-six (26) media practitioners, teachers and students present.
A session on Trauma marks a first in this training, which prompted some of the participants to share their expertise on the subject and even their personal experiences. Some participants look forward to echoing learnings from this training to colleagues and apply them to work. One, in particular, said: “My daily reports will definitely benefit from this.” Another shared:
“I will apply this to my news coverage and editorial judging.” |
