PECOJON Conducts Peace and Conflict Sensitive Journalism Training

Zamboanga City - The Peace and Conflict Journalism Network (PECOJON) conducted a 3-day peace and conflict sensitive journalism training 2 at La Vista Monte Resort here on March 16-19, 2007.

The training that was attended by 20 journalists coming from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao was held in a mountain resort some 24 kilometers away from downtown Zamboanga City and it was the 2nd training attended by the journalists.

Peace and Conflict Journalism Training 2
March 16-19,2007 Zamboanga City, Philippines

The second follow up of the Peace and Conflict Journalism Training in Mindanao will be conducted March 16-19,2007 in Zamboanga City.
The training will gather participants from all over the Philippines to analyze the applicability of a peace journalism approach to the Mindanao conflict and further discusses topics as propaganda and the role of journalism in society and democracy. 

In cooperation with InWent, PECOJON Philippines conducts trainings on conflict reporting for journalists in war and conflict regions.

For the follow up training participants can not apply but are invited by the organizers.

The Peace and Conflict Journalism Training 2 in Cagayan De Oro that was postponed in December due to a Taifun is now set for February. Slots are still available. All participants who attended Peace and Conflict Journalism Training 1 ( but not yet Peace and Conflict Journalism Training 2 ) are welcome to apply.
The training will gather participants from Cagayan De Oro, Davao, General Santos, Koronadal, Cotabato, Iligan, and Zamboanga who will be joined by journalists from Manila and the Visayas.
