PECOJON welcomes the new coordinator and councilors for the Western Mindanao Chapter, following an assembly held at the Astoria Hotel in Zamboanga City last March 7, 2008.

    Introduction and Updates from the National Secretariat preceded the discussion on the election process, which involved the presentation of the network structure.  The 16 members who were present then shared their opinions and questions regarding the process, and proceeded to nominate and vote.

    Documentary filmmaker Honeylyn Alipio came out as coordinator, while Ateneo de Zamboanga professor Francis Marcial and Zamboanga Press Club President Bhong Simbajon were chosen as councilors. A mini-meeting to discuss how the core team would work together and handle the chapter ensued.

    To cap the gathering, the members together with the people behind the International and National Secretariats then went out to unwind and chat over coffee, and under the Zamboanga night lights.
